Is
high intensity training more difficult than
other forms of exercise?
Yes and no. Exercises performed using our method
will feel harder than most because we are working
the muscles until they fail and without any rest.
This level of muscle fatigue can be uncomfortable,
and it requires concentration and resolve to keep
working until failure. However, the typical length
of each exercise is about 2 minutes, and we only
perform one set of each exercise. Additionally, we
move rapidly between exercises and perform the same
routine each time, so the anxiety or anticipation
about work yet to be done is largely eliminated.
While it may be “easier” to turn on the IPod, train
at one’s own pace according to mood, and quit an
exercise when tired or when the prescribed number
of sets and reps are complete, the lack of actual
work being performed will yield predictably uninspiring
results.
Strength training is about inspiring one’s body
to grow. For most of us, our daily activities do
little if anything to promote muscle growth,
so our time in training must be very well spent. A
healthy body is well worth the effort.
