Will
this program help me lose weight?
Yes. However, if you are serious about losing weight,
you must pay close attention to your nutrition and
caloric intake. Proper exercise combined with sustained
or reduced caloric
intake will produce increased muscle mass while reducing
excess fat. Simply reducing calories without
exercise, or with Aerobic-type exercise alone, will
result in the loss of both fat and muscle tissue.
To embark on a successful weight loss campaign,
it is important to understand how the body uses our
food to create and store energy. As fat is the perfect
long-term energy storage device, the body will revert
to
fat stores last for fuel, and will store unused
calories from our food as fat. Unfortunately,
modern diets and sedentary lifestyles rarely force
the body
to use fat for energy.
In order to promote muscle growth and fat loss,
it is important to limit or avoid foods containing
refined sugar or flour,
as these
are quickly
and
most easily converted
into energy. These simple carbohydrates, NOT dietary
fat, are the primary culprits in excess weight problems.
An increase in muscle mass also increases the resting
metabolic rate, helping to burn excess calories and
reduce fat even while not exercising.
